Grain milling & animal feed

Milling ERP from the weighbridge to the bag

Covadesk weighs every truck in and out, grades every load against your tolerance bands — aflatoxin first — prices it by grade, stores it in silos, mills it in batches with extraction rate and fortification recorded, and settles outgrowers net of their advances.

Built for: Maize and wheat flour millers, animal-feed manufacturers, rice and sorghum mills, and grain aggregators buying from outgrowers.

The problems we solve

Where millers lose money — and how Covadesk closes the gap

  • Grain bought on a guess

Moisture, foreign matter and aflatoxin are sampled at intake and judged against tolerance bands. A breach of a reject band is absolute — no discount buys it in.

  • Weighbridge and stores disagree

Gross, tare and net are captured on the ticket, and the accepted net weight is what enters stock.

  • Outgrower disputes every season

Every figure on a grower statement traces to a delivery or an advance, and an advance that can’t be recovered stays outstanding rather than pushing the grower negative.

  • Nobody knows the real extraction rate

Batches record grain in and flour, bran and germ out, so extraction and yield variance are known per batch and per product.

Weigh loaded, weigh empty — the difference is the load.

Features

Everything millers need, in one system

Weighbridge

The gate: weigh loaded, weigh empty, and the difference is the load.

  • Tickets opened on first weighing, closed on second
  • Gross, tare and net captured with vehicle and driver
  • Trucks on the bridge and tickets awaiting tare in real time
  • Voided tickets kept with a reason

Intake grading

Loads waiting to be sampled, graded and accepted into a silo.

  • Sampling for moisture, foreign matter, aflatoxin and your other parameters
  • Tolerance bands from procurement QA — accept, discount or reject
  • Grade-based pricing per item
  • Accept or reject decisions recorded with reasons

Silos

What is in each silo, and whether it is keeping.

  • Silo stock as inventory locations
  • Temperature, moisture and CO₂ readings
  • Reading history per silo

Outgrowers

Growers who deliver to the mill and are settled for it.

  • Grower register with county and payment details
  • Advances in cash, seed or fertiliser before harvest
  • Season settlement netting deliveries against advances
  • Grower statements every figure of which traces to a record

Batch milling and quality

Grain in, flour and by-products out.

  • Bills of materials and process stages — cleaning, conditioning, milling, packing
  • Batches with planned and actual input and output
  • Extraction rate and yield variance per batch and product
  • Premix and fortification recorded per batch
  • In-process QA, certificates of analysis and non-conformance

How it flows

One process, start to finish

  1. 01

    Weigh in

The truck crosses the weighbridge loaded.

  2. 02

    Sample and grade

The load is sampled and judged against tolerance bands.

  3. 03

    Accept and weigh out

Accepted grain goes to a silo; tare gives the net.

  4. 04

    Mill

Batches draw grain and record flour, bran and germ out.

  5. 05

    Pack and sell

Finished goods go to stock, dispatch and invoicing.

  6. 06

    Settle growers

Deliveries are netted against advances and paid.

Questions

Covadesk for millers: common questions

Does Covadesk integrate a weighbridge?

Covadesk runs the weighbridge workflow: tickets open on the first weighing, close on the tare, and the net weight flows into intake grading and stock. A closed ticket is never edited — only voided, with the reason kept.

How does intake grading work?

Each load is sampled for parameters such as moisture, foreign matter and aflatoxin, and the readings are judged against your tolerance bands to accept, discount or reject. Aflatoxin above a reject band is refused outright.

Can Covadesk settle outgrowers?

Yes. Advances issued before harvest — cash, seed or fertiliser — are netted against the season’s deliveries at their graded price. A grower is never pushed negative; unrecovered advances stay outstanding.

Does it track extraction rate?

Yes. Every production batch records grain in and each product out, giving extraction rate and variance against plan per batch, with daily milling, wastage and shift reports.
